What's in our pre-purchase inspection
Full bumper-to-bumper visual: body panels, paint condition (look for prior accident repairs and over-spray), glass, lights, tires (tread depth and wear pattern), wheels, exhaust, undercarriage rust and damage.
Mechanical check: engine compartment leaks, belts, hoses, fluids (color and level), battery condition with load test, cooling system pressure check, suspension and steering inspection with the vehicle off the ground, brake pad and rotor measurement.
Electronics: full OBD-II scan across all modules — engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, body. We pull stored and pending codes, not just the active ones. Many sellers clear codes before showing the car — pending codes give it away.
Test drive: cold start behavior, idle quality, transmission shift behavior (every gear, up and down), brake feel, alignment pull, suspension noise, AC operation.
Written report with photos, sent to your phone, with an honest recommendation: buy as-is, buy with these specific items negotiated, or walk away.

Will the seller let you inspect the car?+

Do I have to be there for the inspection?+
No. We coordinate with the seller, do the inspection, and send you the written report with photos. Many out-of-town buyers do it this way.

Can you do a PPI on a diesel or a heavy-duty truck?+
Yes. We do them all the time — diesels need a few extra checks (fuel system, glow plugs, DEF system, regen behavior) and we know what to look for.
Can you check a car at a dealer lot?+
